Karen is a passionate, creative and future-forward professional.
She has been instrumental in helping grow the Annual TEC Awards to become a marquis event at The NAMM Show, not only gathering the international pro audio community in Southern California each January, but also garnering the attention of a global media base. She is always calm and solution-oriented, allowing her to keep the event on brand, on budget and on time. She has become a great asset to NAMM and the TEC Awards brand.

I have had the extreme pleasure of working with Karen on multiple projects. Karen has always done an amazing job and brought new and creative ideas to the table. She is extremely professional, organized and understands the climate of the venue and needs of those hosting. She has great insight and respect of those who will attend your events and creates an atmosphere that is a bench mark for others to follow.
When I know Karen is going to be handling these events I can actually sit back and let her run the show.
Every event she has handled that I have been a part of has always received praise from the venue, the participants and from those attending. She is a true event producer that takes each part required from the planning stage to the post meetings with a sincere and professional attitude. She cares as much as the people throwing the event about its success and its reputation.

Working with Karen has been a pleasure for Sennheiser. She kept the planning and projects on track for our 2018 Americas Kickoff Event, managed our budget, and was our single point of contact among many services (before, during, and after our event). Karen brought great ideas forward to help us improve our event, and she was available to us whenever we called on her.
Our Kickoff was rated as one of our most success for Sennheiser Americas, and it was in large part due to her cool head and total dedication to our success.

Karen Dunn was referred to me by best-in-class professionals in Public Relations and NARAS and NAMM and a host of other places. She was far and away everyones first choice for what I needed.
What I proposed to Karen was not for the faint of heart and would likely be different than her other events. Her task was to work for a slightly deranged, Executive Producer, Machiavellian in nature, periodically anal retentive person who is very specific about his vision. Karen was tasked with lofty ambitions, done under a ton of public scrutiny with almost impossible goals. And to work in conjunction with 4 other teams. She brought a calm demeanor, never missed a beat, trusted and executed even when it wasn’t clear to her why. As an added benefit, she became a friend along the way. The event was spectacular, the press and reaction was over the top and lots of happy folks attended and were pleased. The inaugural Pensado Awards was a smash. And since the slightly deranged, machiavellian, EP with all the goals and vision is me, I know better than anyone what Karen had to deal with, how she dealt with it and even why. The true test is always when things don’t go according to plan, how does one handle. Karen passed that with flying colors as well. Would highly recommend her.

I met Karen Dunn on my first day at Mix magazine and went on to work as her right-hand man for 20 years in the production and operation of the TEC Awards. Seven years ago, when Mix launched Sound for Film & Television, a one-day, high-end industry exhibition and panel series at Sony Pictures Studios, I called Karen Dunn before I even called my parent company—just to make sure she was available! We’re now entering our seventh year at Sony, and there’s no way we could have grown and found the success we have without Karen.
Her calm demeanor and her interpersonal, professional approach to sponsors, speakers, attendees and the venue itself are unmatched. I’m counting on her for the next 20 years!

When NewBay Media’s leading brand Mix Magazine decided to launch an event in the “Sound for Film” space, we knew there was only one event management vendor for our needs. With Karen Dunn’s seasoned experience in the AV & Pro Audio industry, we welcomed KMD Productions’ reliable and proven expertise to help ensure that this inaugural event would be a success. We entrusted some of our most important client relationships and communications to Karen and her team, and they delivered flawlessly. From operations to budgeting, vendor relations to registration, and all the critical components in between, the success of this event hinged in great part on professional, seamless management. We were grateful to have such solid resource as part of our foundation, and we’ll look forward to working with them again as we continue to build out our event portfolio.
I can’t recommend KMD Productions strongly enough as leading experts in their field.

Thank you once again for a job well done planning and executing our 2013 Kick Off Meeting. I admire your methodical approach, positive attitude (even on site when new twists presented themselves) and attention to detail.
Our employees and guests spoke via an online survey (thank you!) to proclaim this our best event to date.
This was made possible by your planning approach, tireless efforts and genuine interest in making this an event to remember. Lastly, your constant eye on the budget line was reassuring…especially when it came to needs or wants. Wishing you continued success.

In 2012, PreSonus decided to significantly expand our annual PreSonuSphere user conference in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. We knew we needed a first-rate professional to help coordinate it, and we were familiar with Karen Dunn’s work from her many years of organizing the TEC Foundation’s TEC Awards ceremony and golf tournament, as well as other events. We felt that Karen was the right person for the job, so we contracted with her for PreSonuSphere 2012, and we could not be more delighted with the results.
Scheduling, booking lodging for VIPs—basically, coordinating anything that needed it—happened quickly, professionally, efficiently, courteously, and with minimal impact on our staff.
We will use Karen’s services again, and I highly recommend her work to others who need event coordination.

I met Karen a number of years ago. One of our Board of Trustee members had connected us with a fundraising event that Karen organized and produced every year for the Mix Audio Foundation at the Malibu Country Club in Malibu, California. Every year, the event was flawless. Karen is a true professional in every way. This year, Sound Art hired Karen to put on a Casino event at a recording studio in Los Angeles. Again, it was a smash hit in every way.
For us, a small non-profit teaching music to inner-city kids in LA, she made the event easy, uncomplicated and a lot of fun for all.
The feedback immediately after was that everyone wants to do it again next year. In every detail, the event was a pleasure, with no stress and not one single missed step. I fully and completely recommend Karen Dunn and KMD Productions for your entire event planning needs.

Karen Dunn has been working with Music in Schools Today as an Events Manager since May, 2009. She has shown creativity and effectiveness in communicating with others and accomplishing the tasks necessary to produce three successful events. Karen is able to juggle multiple jobs at once and always meets deadlines even when faced with overlapping events.
Notably, Karen demonstrates patience with others and uses humor as a tool to keep everyone around her at ease.
I highly recommend her for any events-related work.

I am writing you on behalf of Karen Dunn, with whom I have worked for the past 20 years on numerous nonprofit ventures. During most of that time Karen has reported to me in her capacity of Executive Director of the Technical Excellence & Creativity Awards, an annual event for the pro audio industry presented by the Mix Foundation. Over time, Karen assumed a wide range of duties, beginning as the editor of our program book and later becoming responsible for the management of venue relations (catering, decorating, signage, etc.), handling relations with our nominees and presenters, writing promotional materials and coordinating their production, as well as numerous other specialized tasks.
Karen has also served as Executive Director of the Mix L.A. Open charity golf tournament, which she helped build to prominence in the professional sound industry, managed the Foundation’s office, helped prepare budgets and served as secretary of the board of directors. To say she is adept at juggling numerous duties simultaneously is a vast understatement.
I can unequivocally say that Karen did an excellent job in every capacity in which she served, producing first-rate work, on time and on budget. She is also one of the most personable people I have ever had the pleasure to know, and over the years she became the public face of the TEC Awards and golf tournament, respected and beloved by hundreds of people in our field.
I enthusiastically recommend Karen for any position or project for which her many skills may qualify her. She will be a valuable asset to anyone fortunate enough to retain her services.

Over the past 25 years of being behind the scenes as an engineer in the music industry, I’ve met a lot of people and have seen a lot of changes. Most notable of the changes has been the gradual decline of collaboration amongst the industry players.
That’s why I had the ambitious idea last year to organize and host an industry event that would be a great excuse to bring the people of our industry together to forge new friendships and rekindle those friendships from the past. I decided that a poker charity event was the right way to do it. Within minutes of coming up with the idea for a poker tournament, I knew right away that Karen Dunn was the right person and essential to help me put this together.
Having never organized a major fundraiser/event, I knew I was going to need someone who’s an expert in event production and also knows the people of our community. I have known Karen for many years and have experienced first-hand, the success and pleasure of the golf tournaments and Mix Magazine TEC award events that she was responsible for coordinating.
What I know now more than I did back then, is that there’s an incredible amount of work and dedication involved in pulling off a successful event- so having someone who’s ‘been there- done that’ was an important choice, and that’s why I needed Karen.
Karen was right there with me from the beginning. Her experience and connections made the first annual Recording Industry Poker Tournament grow from an idea to a success without any problems. Every detail: food, parking, people, place, budget, notifications, volunteers, decor, promotion, sponsorship, website, press etc., was carefully planned and executed with a great partner, enough so, that the 2nd annual Recording Industry Poker Tournament will be brought to our industry again by Karen and KMD Productions.

This letter is a recommendation for Karen Dunn and KMD Productions in regards to her services as an event planner.
Karen and I began working together on a fundraising event I founded in 2008 called Silicon Valley Rocks, a benefit for Music in Schools Today featuring tech professionals who play in bands around the Bay Area.
Given Karen’s connections in the music industry, experience, and excellent reputation, I was incredibly grateful and lucky to have Karen on the team. In its second year, Silicon Valley Rocks! had more ambitious fundraising goals than before.
Because of Karen’s competence and can-do attitude, I felt very comfortable letting go of all the logistics so I could focus more on fundraising. She did a fantastic job from managing the many volunteers to working with venue to providing expert advice on all matters.
We had wonderful feedback on the show, and I really look forward to working with her again. I would gladly recommend Karen Dunn and KMD Productions for your entire event planning needs.
